Futurama - フューチュラマ

フューチュラマ（Futurama）は、31世紀の地球を舞台にしたアメリカ合衆国のテレビアニメーションシリーズ。人気アニメ『ザ・シンプソンズ』を製作し好評を得た漫画家マット・グレイニング（マット・グローニング Matt Groening）と脚本家デイヴィッド・X・コーエン David X. Cohenが、より大人向けのアニメを作ろうと構想を練り、FOXテレビで1999年3月28日から2003年8月10日までテレビ放送された。
主人公はニューヨークに住む25歳の冴えないピザ配達人フィリップ・J・フライである。1999年12月31日にピザを配達に行った先の研究所で誤って凍結保存されてしまい、解凍されて目覚めたときには千年後の2999年12月31日であった。物語は、フライが仕事を得た先の惑星間運送会社プラネットエクスプレス社の欠点だらけな社員たちとのドタバタや強い絆と、千年後の未来の社会問題や惑星間関係などをブラックユーモアを交えて描いている。

Futurama is an Emmy Award-winning animated American sitcom created by Matt Groening, also the creator of The Simpsons, and developed by Groening and David X. Cohen for the Fox network. The series follows the adventures of a former New York City pizza delivery boy, Philip J. Fry, after he is cryonically frozen at midnight, January 1, 2000, and is revived one thousand years in the future.
Futurama is set at the beginning of the 31st century, in a time filled with technological wonders. Various devices and architecture are similar to the Populuxe design. Global warming, inflexible bureaucracy, and substance abuse are a few of the subjects given a 31st century exaggeration in a world where the problems have become both more extreme and more common. In a jab at segregation, for example, the show depicts the human prejudice against mutants as being so great that the latter have been forced to live underground in the sewers.
